STEPS Session - Nursing - Advanced Placement Associate Degree
Submission of this form verifies that I have viewed the above STEPS session video and understand that to be eligible for a seat in the Advanced Placement Nursing program at HGTC I must:
- Apply to and be accepted at HGTC.
- Submit official high school transcript (with graduation date) or copy of GED.
- Submit official college transcripts from all other colleges attended.
- Sign and submit the “Additional Admission/Placement Requirement Affidavit” (Background Check Affidavit).
- Meet the following criteria:
Have a minimum composite score of 65 on the TEAS AND successfully completed (with a minimum grade of C) all 9 Nursing prerequisite core courses with a 2.75 GPA: ENG 101, ENG 102, SPC 205, PSY 201, MAT 110 or 120, BIO 210, BIO 211, BIO 225 and a Humanities course. (BIO 211, BIO 225 and MAT 110/120 time limits apply.) - Submit a completed application once the above criteria are met. Priority application
dates are as follows:
January 1st : for Summer semester start (May) at the Grand Strand campus.
April 1st : for Fall semester start (August) at the Grand Strand campus. - Submit a copy of your current LPN license or current, valid, unrestricted SC or National Paramedic Certificate with your application to the Admissions office on any campus.
- Applications may be submitted any time of year, however if you have a strong preference for a specific campus and/or starting semester you are encouraged to submit your application by the priority date for that class.
- If you receive notice that you are admitted to the Advanced Placement Nursing program, your acceptance letter will provide instructions regarding your next steps. You should be prepared to complete a Health Physical and submit required immunizations, complete and pass a Certified Background Check and Drug Screening, submit a $250.00 deposit to hold your seat, and show proof of current HealthCare Providers CPR.
- Submit the Required Steps Session Checklist below, verifying completion of this STEPS session and indicating interest in admission to the Advanced Placement Nursing program.
Completion of these requirements does not guarantee acceptance into HGTC’s Advanced Placement Nursing program.
