Dental Services
Horry-Georgetown Technical College offers a variety of dental services to our community through its two public clinics. Located in our brand-new, state-of-the-art facility, these dental clinics allow HGTC to provide top-quality dental care at an affordable price
Dental Hygiene Clinic
HGTC’s Dental Hygiene Clinic has specialized in dental exams, cleanings, and X-Rays for our community since 1998. These procedures are performed by our students of Dental Hygiene, who are supervised by their professors. A Staff Dentist is present and available for consultation purposes to advise of any additional dental treatments that may be needed.
HGTC offers a vital, low-cost option for dental cleanings. We work from a waitlist, but patients who are available to come on short notice may speed up their wait for an appointment. HGTC students are also welcome to make appointments for dental services. Dental cleaning appointments are three to four hours long and many patients require more than one appointment to complete their cleaning. Commitment to appointments is vital to the continued success of our students. We see patients two days a week and operate during the college semesters. Charles F. Freeman Community Dental Clinic
The Charles F. Freeman Community Dental Clinic with the help of volunteer dentists and HGTC’s Expanded Duty Dental Assisting students, allow us to treat patients, particularly children and veterans, who need limited additional dental care. These patients are referred to us from the Dental Hygiene Clinic and fees for the services they receive are greatly reduced. Patients must also be willing to commit to a dental cleaning and x-rays if these services are recommended in the patient’s personalized treatment plan.
The Charles F. Freeman Volunteer Community Dental Clinic also provides (non-emergency) fillings to uninsured Horry and Georgetown County residents (18 years and older) that fall below the 200% poverty level line. Income Qualification paperwork is required and processed by appointment only.
In order to qualify for services you must provide:
- Community Dental Clinic (CDC) Application
- Proof of Identity (SC photo id)
- Proof of Residency (current utility bill)
- Proof of ALL HOUSEHOLD income
This volunteer dental filling clinic is to meet the needs of those that would possibly delay having cavities filled due to financial reasons. Research has indicated that delaying dental filling treatments often result in emergency room visits to treat dental problems. The clinic allows us to treat these patients to reduce future emergency room visits for uninsured individuals. Patients are seen by appointment only.
- We are not an emergency dental clinic and do not accept walk in patients. Once patients are treated in the Dental Hygiene Clinic, they will be eligible to apply for CDC treatment.
