HGTC Foundation’s Virtual Gala - A Great Success

(CONWAY, SC) – The Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) Foundation Board of Directors and The Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs of Myrtle Beach are pleased to announce that the 13th Annual Gala sponsored by HTC was a great success, with net proceeds over $74,000!  The Foundation staff took a chance on conducting the event virtually, and thankfully it exceeded their expectations. This is the second highest net in the history of the event.

On Saturday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m., the community was invited to attend this year’s reimagined gala.  Ticket holders received an exclusive culinary dinner with wine that they picked up at the International Culinary Institute of Myrtle Beach.

“On behalf of the HGTC Foundation Board of Directors, I would like to thank all of the sponsors and attendees that helped make this event possible and successful. In addition, I would like to extend a special thank you to HTC for being our Premier Event Sponsor. The Annual Gala has a huge impact on our culinary and hospitality businesses in our community. Your support directly benefits the students through scholarships and direct program support. These students are the workforce of tomorrow and this ensures their success and supports them to reach their educational goals,” Buzz Freeman, HGTC Foundation Board Chairman

The Annual Gala is the major fundraising event of the year for the Foundation and includes entertainment, silent and live auction, a delicious gourmet menu prepared by HGTC professional chef instructors, and so much more. The event raises funds to support the culinary programs and scholarships for culinary students attending HGTC. This year was an extra special year because the Foundation reached its one million dollar cumulative fundraising goal for this event over the past thirteen years.

“This event has proven to be a phenomenal success with over $1,000,000 being raised in the past thirteen years. We could not have reached this momentous achievement without the extraordinary support of our loyal community partners, sponsors, auction donors, attendees, and volunteers. Thank you all for your continued support! Additionally, we are especially thankful for the hard work and dedication of our Culinary Institute’s talented faculty, staff, and students that brought this delicious take-out dinner to life,” Neyle Wilson, HGTC Foundation President & CEO.

The purpose of the HGTC Foundation is to raise funds to support the programs, services and activities of HGTC, its students and employees, and to create and cultivate positive relationships between the College and the community.

“The Annual Gala event has been an extraordinary success for the College raising a million dollars for scholarships, student support, and numerous college projects,” said Dr. Marilyn Murphy Fore, HGTC President.  “We are so pleased with the continued support of our Foundation President, Board of Directors, Chaine Des Rotisseurs, and numerous business and industry partners in our community.

The HGTC Foundation invites the community to become involved as the College continues to foster its reputation as a high quality learning and teaching institution with a student-centered environment.  The community can enhance this vision with financial support for scholarships, programs, facilities or other needs; donation of equipment or technology; mentoring students; providing internships; and service on various academic or foundation advisory boards.
