HGTC leaders, students, and community partners celebrate the ribbon cutting for the
expanded Pantry on the Grand Strand Campus.
Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) celebrated the grand opening of its newly expanded HGTC Pantry location on the Grand Strand Campus with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held Monday, Nov. 10, at 3:30 p.m. in Building 200, Room 117, inside TECH Central.
The ribbon cutting marked the official start of HGTC’s annual “Chomp-Out Hunger” Food Drive Challenge, which runs through Dec. 12, 2025, as part of the College’s broader Season of Giving campaign. The challenge encourages students, faculty, staff, and community members to help “chomp out” hunger by donating nonperishable food items, personal care products, or household essentials to support members of the HGTC community in need.
The HGTC Pantry provides free, confidential access to food and basic necessities for students and employees at all three campuses, Conway, Grand Strand, and Georgetown, and connects visitors with community resources that promote health, education, and self-sufficiency.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity of our community partners who continue to make the HGTC Pantry possible,” said Dr. Marilyn ‘Murph’ Fore, HGTC President. “Their support helps us ensure that no student or employee has to face hunger or hardship alone.”
The HGTC Foundation expresses heartfelt thanks to Corning Credit Union for a $1,500 donation and Publix for providing $500 in $25 gift cards, both of which will directly benefit Pantry visitors during the holiday season.
As HGTC embraces the Season of Giving, the College invites additional contributions from local businesses, civic groups, and individuals. Monetary donations may be made through the HGTC Foundation website by selecting the HGTC Pantry Fund.
