HGTC, FMU Partnership for Business Administration
HGTC and FMU officially sign agreement allowing business administration students to seamlessly transition and successfully transfer for the completion of a four-year degree.
Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) and Francis Marion University (FMU) recently signed an articulation agreement between the colleges establishing a business administration transfer agreement. After completing the two-year Associate in Applied Science in Business Administration degree at HGTC, students will be able to transfer to FMU to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Francis Marion School of Business in just two years.
“HGTC is thrilled about this new partnership with FMU for our Business Administration
students. Prior to this agreement, only a few business-related courses were direct
transfers to FMU,” said Theresa Strong, Academic Chair & Professor-HGTC Department
of Business Administration. “With the completion of HGTC’s Associate in Applied Science
degree in Business Administration, students can transfer directly to FMU and begin
their Bachelor of Science in Business Administration as juniors.”
“FMU is one of our greatest partners as they have opened the door to so many transfer
agreements with us,” said HGTC President, Dr. Marilyn M. Fore. “This latest two plus
two degree with FMU is a wonderful opportunity for our local business students, who
want to remain in our community, to begin with us. These agreements not only benefit
our students but also our entire area.”
The partnership smooths the transition for business students and provides substantial cost savings along the way. All credits earned at HGTC will transfer to FMU.

I remain indebted to Dr. Fore and her staff for making these joint initiatives so substantive and sustainable.” says Dr. Fred Carter, president of Francis Marion University.
The agreement has been officially signed by both Dr. Fred Carter, President at FMU and Dr. Marilyn M. Fore, President at HGTC.
The transfer agreement is available to students now with financial aid and scholarship opportunities.
Fall classes at HGTC begin August 24, and financial aid and scholarships are readily available.
