Zero Tuition Program for Summer 2023

The Zero Tuition program for Summer 2023 is an institutional scholarship that will be applied to the account of eligible students and cover the balance of tuition after financial aid, scholarships and third-party payments have been applied. The Zero Tuition program is available for Summer 2023 to new, returning, and current students who meet eligibility requirements.

To be eligible for the program for Summer 2023, a student must:

  • Be a South Carolina resident eligible to receive State aid (in accordance with  South Carolina Code of Laws #59-112-100 to #59-112-150 and the Commission on Higher Education Regulations Chapter 62)
  • Be enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours in a high-skill, high-demand program for academic credit
  • Have a cumulative institutional Grade Point Average of 2.0 
  • Complete the FAFSA and complete all required Financial Aid documents

NOT eligible for the Zero Tuition program

  • Academic program: Associate in Arts and Associate in Science majors
    • Associate in Science, Health Science majors are eligible 
  • Students who are on financial aid suspension and do not have a cumulative institutional GPA of at least a 2.0
  • Students who are not eligible for state aid. (Examples include: DACA students, students with unknown residency status, Out-of-State students, International students, and Transient/Visiting students)
  • Students with a Federal overpayment or defaulted on a federal student loan
  • Students who are enrolled in fewer than 6 credit hours
  • Students who have tuition and fees already covered by grant aid, other academic scholarships, and third-party payments
  • Workforce development courses (non-credit)

PACE/Dual Enrollment students are eligible for Lottery Tuition Assistance and Technical Scholars are eligible for other awards, but neither are eligible for Zero Tuition.

  • All tuition costs that calculate within the registration process such as college-wide fees (Examples include: technology fee and enrollment fee). Course and major-specific fees that calculate during the registration process will be covered for eligible students.
  • Textbooks, supplies, background checks and/or drug screens (if required) and other program specific fees and costs will not be included.

New Students

Current Students

  • Register for Summer 2023 classes. 
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All required forms and documents must be submitted and completed. HGTC’s school code is 004925
  • Log in to the myHGTC portal to review your Financial Aid Requirements and ensure that your financial aid file is complete.
