HGTC to Celebrate Launch of Gator Gaming During AI Week

Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, April 2, to celebrate Gator Gaming, the College’s first esports team and gaming club, during HGTC’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Week.

The event will begin at 4 p.m. in Chomp’s Hangout, Building 1100B, on the Conway Campus. Guests are encouraged to arrive by 3:45 p.m.

Gator Gaming is a new high-tech addition to campus and reflects HGTC’s continued investment in innovation, student engagement, and emerging technologies. The club is open to students interested in gaming for leisure or competitive play and is designed to foster teamwork, connection, and involvement in the rapidly growing esports industry.

The ribbon cutting is one of several activities taking place during HGTC’s AI Week, held March 30 through April 2. The week highlights the College’s leadership in innovation and its commitment to preparing students for the future through technology, creativity, and applied learning.

“Gator Gaming represents another exciting way HGTC is creating innovative opportunities for our students,” said Dr. Marilyn “Murph” Fore, president of HGTC. “As technology continues to shape the future of education and entertainment, we are proud to provide spaces that encourage engagement, collaboration, and exploration.”

During the event, attendees will tour the new space, experience this latest addition to the Conway Campus, and meet student members of the esports team and gaming club, along with the faculty advisor, team coach, and staff.

The event is open to faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.
