Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is celebrating six consecutive years of exceptional outcomes in its Radiologic Technology Program, with graduating classes from 2021 through 2026 achieving 100% first-time pass rates on the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification examination and 100% job placement rates.
The Class of 2026 continued that record of excellence, with all 18 graduates passing the ARRT examination on their first attempt. Every graduate also secured employment in the field of radiologic technology within three months of commencement.
"Achieving a 100% first-time pass rate and 100% job placement rate for six consecutive years is an extraordinary accomplishment and a testament to the commitment of our students, faculty, staff and clinical partners," said Dr. Douglas Gleasman, academic chair, professor, and program director of Radiologic Technology in HGTC's Medical Imaging Sciences. "Our students work incredibly hard to reach this milestone, and we are proud to prepare graduates who enter the profession with the knowledge, clinical experience, and commitment to patient care needed to succeed."
The ARRT certification examination is a nationally recognized credentialing examination for radiologic technologists and assesses the knowledge and cognitive skills required for professional practice. Graduates who successfully meet ARRT requirements earn the Registered Technologist credential in radiography, an important professional qualification for entering the field.
HGTC's Radiologic Technology Program combines classroom instruction, laboratory experience and extensive clinical education to prepare students for careers in medical imaging. Through clinical partnerships with health care organizations throughout the region, students gain hands-on experience in professional settings while developing the technical expertise, critical-thinking skills, and patient care competencies essential to the profession.
The program's 100% job placement rate for six consecutive graduating classes further demonstrates the value of that preparation and HGTC's role in developing highly skilled health care professionals prepared to serve employers, patients, and communities throughout the region.
