HGTC Names Christine D’Amicantonio 2026 Temporary Staff of the Year

Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) has named Christine C. D’Amicantonio, human resources generalist, its 2026 Temporary Staff of the Year, recognizing her exceptional service, positive spirit and unwavering commitment to helping others.
D’Amicantonio was recognized before faculty and staff during the College’s All-College Meeting on the Conway Campus.
Since joining HGTC in July 2023, D’Amicantonio has distinguished herself not only through the quality of her work, but also through the energy, dependability and kindness she brings to the College each day. Colleagues describe her as someone who is always willing to lend a helping hand, regardless of the task, and as a person whose bright personality can light up a room.
“Christine represents the very best of HGTC because she understands that meaningful service begins with people,” said Dr. Melissa Batten, interim president of HGTC. “She approaches every responsibility with professionalism, but what makes her truly special is the genuine care she shows others. Whether she is assisting an employee, supporting a colleague or simply offering encouragement when someone needs it, Christine makes people feel valued. We are fortunate to have her as part of the HGTC family.”
D’Amicantonio brought decades of professional experience to HGTC following a long career in the legal field. Her background includes more than 13 years with the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office in New York, where she supported several areas, including major crimes, justice courts and narcotics. She previously spent more than 20 years with the law firm of Gellert & Klein, P.C.
She earned a diploma in Secretarial Science from Krissler Business Institute and continued her education in Paralegal Studies at Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, New York. Her extensive professional background helped develop the organizational, communication and interpersonal skills she now brings to her role at HGTC.
For D’Amicantonio, however, some of the qualities that have made the greatest impression cannot be measured by years of experience or listed on a résumé. Her colleagues point to her willingness to step in when help is needed, her dependability and the enthusiasm she brings to her work.
“Christine is truly one of a kind,” said Jackie Snyder, HGTC vice president of human resources. “She is someone you can always count on, and she brings a positive energy that has an impact on everyone around her. Christine never hesitates to help, and she does it with a smile and a genuine desire to make things easier for others. We are incredibly lucky to have her on our Human Resources team.”
Outside of work, D’Amicantonio enjoys spending time with her husband, Tom; her daughter, Ryan; and their dog, Mila. She also enjoys staying active and taking workout classes.
The Temporary Staff of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding HGTC temporary employee whose service, professionalism and commitment contribute to the success of the College and the people it serves. D’Amicantonio’s recognition reflects a simple but powerful principle: An individual does not need to hold the highest-profile position to have a profound impact on an organization. Sometimes the people who make the greatest difference are those who consistently show up, step forward and make life a little better for the people around them.
