HGTC named 2026 Business of the Year by Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce
Dr. Marilyn “Murph” Fore, president of Horry-Georgetown Technical College, holds the 2026 Business of the Year award presented by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce during the Chamber’s Annual Meeting.
Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) has been named the 2026 Business of the Year by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. The award was presented during the Chamber’s Annual Meeting and recognizes organizations that demonstrate outstanding leadership, innovation, and impact in shaping the future of the Grand Strand.
The honor reflects HGTC’s continued commitment to advancing workforce development, supporting regional economic growth, and providing accessible, high-quality education to residents of Horry and Georgetown counties.

In 2026, HGTC celebrates 60 years of service to the community, marking a legacy of growth, innovation, and impact. The College serves nearly 10,000 students and offers more than 80 associate degree, diploma, and certificate programs, many with online options. HGTC continues to expand programs in high-demand fields such as healthcare, advanced manufacturing, business, hospitality, public service, and technology to meet the evolving needs of the regional economy.
The College’s strong enrollment momentum and program outcomes further demonstrate its value to the community. Many academic programs report placement rates exceeding 90 percent, reflecting both the quality of instruction and alignment with workforce needs.
HGTC maintains strong partnerships with local employers, industry leaders, and community organizations to create clear pathways from education to employment.
Through advisory boards, workforce training programs, and collaborative initiatives, the College plays a vital role in ensuring businesses have access to a skilled and job-ready workforce.
