HGTC Dental Sciences Community Event HGTC Dental Sciences Department Hosts Community Pediatric Oral Health Outreach Event

The Dental Sciences Department at Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) partnered with the Conway Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc. to host a pediatric oral health outreach event on Saturday, April 25, at the HGTC Grand Strand Campus Dental Clinic.

The program welcomed children and families for a morning focused on oral health awareness, hands-on learning, and preventive dental services. HGTC dental faculty and dental assisting students guided participants through interactive education stations and tours of the College’s state-of-the-art dental clinic while introducing children to healthy dental habits and career opportunities in the dental field.

Participants also received on-site dental screenings and fluoride treatments designed to promote early prevention and increase awareness of available oral health resources within the community. The outreach initiative provided HGTC students with valuable service-learning experience while reinforcing the importance of community engagement and access to care.

“This outreach initiative reflected the power of education, service, and community partnership working together to support healthier futures for children and families,” said Michelle Meeker, program director and chair of Dental Sciences at HGTC. “We were honored to welcome the Jack & Jill families to our campus while providing both oral health education and preventive dental services.”

The Conway Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc. is dedicated to nurturing African American youth through leadership development, volunteer service, philanthropic giving, and civic engagement.

HGTC’s Dental Sciences Department remains committed to expanding community partnerships and creating meaningful opportunities that enhance student learning while promoting oral health throughout the region.
