The Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) Area Commission has selected three finalists for the presidency of Horry-Georgetown Technical College following a national search.
The finalists, listed in alphabetical order, are Chad E. Crumbaker, J.D., vice president of academic affairs and workforce innovation at Aiken Technical College; Lori A. Heafner, Ph.D., vice president for academic affairs at Horry-Georgetown Technical College; and Diane M. Mucci, Ph.D., provost of the Annandale Campus at Northern Virginia Community College.
“This is an important milestone in the search for the next president of Horry-Georgetown Technical College, and we are pleased to introduce three highly accomplished finalists to our college and community,” said Robert Hucks, chairman of the HGTC Area Commission. “The Area Commission is grateful to the members of the Presidential Search Committee for the time, thoughtful consideration and dedication they have given throughout this process. We look forward to welcoming each finalist to campus, hearing from our college and community stakeholders, and successfully completing the search for HGTC’s next president.”
Chad E. Crumbaker, J.D.
Crumbaker serves as vice president of academic affairs and workforce innovation at Aiken Technical College. Previously, he served as provost and executive vice president for academic and student affairs at West Virginia University at Parkersburg. Crumbaker earned a Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in international studies from the University of South Carolina.
Lori A. Heafner, Ph.D.
Heafner serves as vice president for academic affairs at Horry-Georgetown Technical College. Previously, she served as HGTC’s vice president for institutional effectiveness and development. Heafner earned a Doctor of Philosophy in educational sciences from Coastal Carolina University, a Master of Arts in higher education administration from Appalachian State University, a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and an Associate of Arts in liberal arts from Cleveland Community College.
Diane M. Mucci, Ph.D.
Mucci serves as provost of the Annandale Campus at Northern Virginia Community College. Previously, she served as academic dean for math, science, technology and business at Northern Virginia Community College. Mucci earned a Doctor of Philosophy in molecular genetics, biochemistry and microbiology from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and a Bachelor of Science in biology from the College of Mount St. Joseph.
Presidential Finalist Open Forums
Each finalist will visit HGTC during the week of Sept. 14 and participate in a one-hour public forum. Faculty, administrators, staff, students and members of the general public are invited and encouraged to attend.
Each forum will include a brief introduction of the finalist followed by a question-and-answer session. Attendees will have an opportunity to provide feedback by completing a feedback form, and completed forms will be provided to the Area Commission for review as part of the presidential search process.
All forums will be held in the Burroughs & Chapin Auditorium, Building 1100B, Room 303, on HGTC’s Conway Campus, 2050 U.S. 501 E., Conway, South Carolina.
