Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is proud to announce its Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program, located on the Grand Strand Campus, has been granted reaffirmation of accreditation for 10 years by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). This is the maximum length of accreditation awarded by the Commission.
The reaccreditation follows an extensive and rigorous peer-reviewed process, which included a comprehensive self-study report, an on-site evaluation, and final approval by the Commission. In its official communication, CAPTE stated the PTA program at HGTC is “in compliance with all of the Standards and Required Elements for Accreditation of Physical Therapist Assistant Education Programs.” The Commission also expressed appreciation for “the thorough and professional manner in which these obligations have been addressed.”
“Receiving the highest possible reaccreditation from CAPTE is a testament to the quality, commitment, and excellence of our PTA faculty, staff, and students,” said Dr. Marilyn “Murph” Fore, HGTC President. “This accomplishment confirms that HGTC continues to provide a high-quality, standards-based education that prepares our students for success in the dynamic field of physical therapy.”
Accreditation by CAPTE ensures that HGTC’s PTA students are trained through a curriculum that meets the national standards of excellence in physical therapy education and prepares them to enter the workforce as skilled and compassionate healthcare professionals.
The next scheduled CAPTE review for the PTA program will take place in Fall 2034.
