HGTC Earns 2025–2026 Military Friendly® School Designation
Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is proud to announce that it has once again been named a Military Friendly® School for the 2025–2026 academic year. This prestigious designation, awarded by VIQTORY, recognizes HGTC’s ongoing commitment to supporting service members, veterans, and their families in achieving their educational and career goals.
The Military Friendly® designation is awarded to colleges that demonstrate superior support services, academic programs, and career outcomes for military-affiliated students. HGTC has consistently met and exceeded the rigorous standards required, including compliance with federal education guidelines, a low student veteran complaint rate, and robust support systems designed specifically for the unique needs of military students.
“We are honored to maintain this important designation,” said Dr. Marilyn “Murph” Fore, HGTC President. “At HGTC, we are committed to helping our nation’s heroes transition into successful civilian careers by providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality education tailored to their needs.”
Key Highlights of HGTC’s Military Support:

HGTC’s efforts go beyond the classroom. The College maintains active partnerships with veteran organizations, military bases, and non-profits to promote awareness and expand its outreach. It also participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program, is approved for Armed Forces Tuition Assistance (TA), and uses the federal Financial Aid Shopping Sheet to provide clear cost information.
As part of its ongoing mission, HGTC trains faculty and staff to understand the unique experiences of veterans, including military-specific health and disability considerations. This comprehensive approach ensures a welcoming and informed campus environment for all military-affiliated students.
HGTC’s recognition as a Military Friendly® School reinforces its institutional commitment, which is embedded in its mission, vision, and values—and backed by senior leadership.
