Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) and Coastal Carolina University (CCU) proudly announce the 4th Annual Light Up the Night 5K Run, Walk, Stroll, or Roll, set for Friday, October 17, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. on the CCU campus.

The annual event continues to unite the community in raising awareness during National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and supporting student survivors of interpersonal violence. Proceeds benefit the CHANT-I-CARE Assistance Fund, which provides financial support and critical resources to CCU and HGTC students impacted by violence.

In 2024, the event raised more than $9,000, helping expand vital services for survivors. This year, organizers aim to surpass that milestone, strengthening the safety net available to those in need.

Beverly Wilhelm, victim services coordinator at CCU and co-organizer of the race, emphasized the significance of the event saying, “Movement is healing. Unity is strength. Together, we have the power to make a real difference. By joining us in this year’s Light Up the Night 5K, you’re not only supporting a vital cause, but you’re also standing beside survivors and showing them they are not alone in their journey.”
