Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) and Coastal Carolina University (CCU) once again joined forces to host the annual School Counselor Luncheon on Wednesday, November 12, at HGTC’s Conference & Business Center on the Grand Strand Campus.
The annual event brings together high school counselors from across Horry and Georgetown counties for an afternoon of appreciation, partnership, and professional collaboration. The luncheon serves as an opportunity for HGTC and CCU to share updates about new academic programs, student support services, and transfer pathways while recognizing the vital role counselors play in guiding local students toward higher education success.
“We value the incredible work our high school counselors do every day to help students discover and pursue their goals,” said Dr. Cynthia Johnston, HGTC assistant vice president for recruitment and engagement. “This partnership with Coastal Carolina University ensures that together, we continue to create seamless educational opportunities that benefit the students and families of our region.”
During the luncheon, representatives from both HGTC and CCU provided timely enrollment updates, academic highlights, and new initiatives at each institution. Topics included HGTC’s cutting-edge Nursing & Health Sciences Institute, academic partnerships, and CCU’s latest admissions opportunities and campus developments.
“We are proud to continue this strong partnership with HGTC and to celebrate our shared mission of serving students,” said Dr. Amanda Craddock, CCU vice president for enrollment management. “Our collaboration with local counselors is essential to ensuring students have the knowledge and resources they need to make informed decisions about their futures.”
Following the program, guests were invited to tour HGTC’s new Nursing & Health Sciences Institute, offering a first-hand look at the state-of-the-art facilities that support healthcare education and workforce development in the area.
The School Counselor Luncheon reflects the ongoing commitment of HGTC and CCU to work hand in hand with local schools, strengthening pathways from high school to college and beyond.
