Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) recently received support from Partnership Grand Strand to offer scholarship assistance for students completing a one-day health care course this summer designed for youth ages 14-18.
The Step into Surgery Summer Camp course will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the Grand Strand Campus at Market Common. Those interested in a career in the health care field can enroll in the class and receive a scholarship for half-off the cost with lunch generously donated by Partnership Grand Strand.
“In our mission to develop the local workforce, Partnership Grand Strand is pleased to offer 12 scholarships to support this exciting health care summer camp. It’s programs like these that inspire our youth to pursue rewarding careers in health and wellness,” said BJ Beaver, Workforce Development Manager for Partnership Grand Strand.
The purpose of the summer camp is to provide students with a preview of human anatomy and the world of healthcare.
“We are excited about building our relationship with the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber and Partnership Grand Strand. We have been working closely with BJ Beaver to find new ways to enhance our partnership that support the community. This generous donation will assist our future students with showing them the health care industry and answer any questions they may have about this growing career path,” said Kristi Evans, HGTC Workforce Development Program Manager.
