HGTC Foundation’s 15th Annual Gala - Huge Success
Foundation event raises funds to support HGTC programs, services, and activities.
The Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to announce the 15th Annual Gala “Southern Charm” sponsored by HTC was a huge success, with net proceeds over $135,000!
On Saturday, March 4, 2023, HGTC’s new Foundation President & CEO, Shannon Detzler, and the Foundation Board of Directors welcomed the community to participate in the Foundation Gala at the HGTC International Culinary Institute of Myrtle Beach. The Gala is the major fundraising event for the year and includes entertainment, silent and live auctions, a delicious five-course gourmet dinner prepared by HGTC professional chef instructors and students, and so much more. The event was sold out and exceeded all expectations with the highest net in the history of the event.
The event raises funds to support the programs and scholarships for students attending HGTC. This annual event has proven to be a phenomenal success, with over $1 million raised in the past 15 years.
The virtual silent auction packages included Chef-Catered Dinner Parties, Salon & Day Spa Packages, Dining & Nightlife Attractions, Musical Performances, Travel Packages, and more.

The purpose of the HGTC Foundation is to raise funds to support the programs, services, and activities of HGTC, its students and employees, and to create and cultivate positive relationships between the College and the community.
“The Annual Gala event has been an extraordinary success for the College raising the essential funding for scholarships, student support, and numerous College projects,” said Dr. Marilyn Murphy Fore, HGTC President. “We are so pleased with the continued support of our Foundation President, Board of Directors, and numerous business and industry partners in our community.”
The HGTC Foundation invites the community to become involved as the College continues to foster its reputation as a high-quality learning and teaching institution with a student-centered environment. The community can enhance this vision with financial support for scholarships, programs, facilities, or other needs; donation of equipment or technology; mentoring students; providing internships; and service on various academic or foundation advisory boards.
