HGTC Hosts Mascot Recycling Challenge

Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is partnering with the South Carolina Department of Commerce as one of the only technical colleges in the state to participate in the Mascot Recycling Challenge.

The contest kicks-off on Friday, October 1 and runs through Sunday, November 7, 2021. During the five-week contest, HGTC is inviting students, employees, and community members to recycle plastic bottles and other recyclables on HGTC Campuses.

Everyone is encouraged to check out the Mascot Recycling Challenge on the HGTC Facebook and Instagram pages. Then, like and share the HGTC posts using #MascotRecyclingChallenge! HGTC is competing against seven South Carolina universities and looking forward to spreading the word that HGTC is a champion for recycling.

“We are very excited about battling head-to-head with other colleges in the Mascot Recycling Challenge. This program supports green jobs in our state, and we are proud to do our part in bringing awareness to the economic and environmental benefits of recycling,” Dr. Marilyn Murphy Fore, HGTC President.

The winner of the challenge will be announced on Monday, November 15 in celebration of America Recycles Day.
