HGTC Announces Return to Normal Operations for Summer and Fall

HGTC students can expect more in-Person Experiences with Face-to Face classes, On-Campus Activities, and No Tuition Increase.

(Conway, SC) 03/22/2021

Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) recently announced its comprehensive return plans for students and the resumption of normal campus operations including on-campus activities and events. The College is offering an increased number of in-person experiences for students featured in the summer and fall schedules. Registration for Maymester and summer is already underway. The fall schedule will be available on April 5 for classes beginning August 23. In addition to face-to-face courses, HGTC will continue to offer a variety of formats including hybrid, synchronous, and online to accommodate delivery preferences of students and support learning styles.

“We are very excited to be able to increase our in-person experiences on our campuses. We continue to remain flexible and ask that students choose an option that is best suited for their schedules and their success,” said HGTC President, Dr. Marilyn Murphy Fore.

Furthermore, HGTC announced that there will be no tuition increase for Fall 2021.

“No tuition increase makes clear our message and commitment to affordability and accessibility for our students and their families. Many of our students are struggling with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. We believe that freezing tuition for the upcoming semester is something we can do to ease their stress and their financial obligations," continued President Fore.

In addition to the recommended tuition freeze for Fall 2021, HGTC helps students afford the cost of higher education in other ways through the South Carolina Lottery Tuition Assistance Program, the SCWINS Scholarship Program, paid internships, transfer programs to the four-year South Carolina colleges and universities, and tuition-free dual enrollment for high school students. For many qualifying programs, tuition can also be free.

There are still health and safety factors that will be considered as the College returns to additional in-person experiences. Many of the current COVID-19 protocols will continue to be enforced in fall 2021 such as face coverings, social distancing, and disinfecting to provide the safest learning environment possible.

“We want to express our gratitude and admiration for the way our students have maintained their studies during these challenging times while adhering to the COVID-19 protocols. We are extremely proud of the educational accomplishments and commitment to the safety of our College community,” said President Fore.

HGTC is proud to provide a COVID-safe learning environment with small class sizes focused on real work applications and hands-on instruction with state-of-the-art training equipment. There is free tutoring assistance and complimentary support applying for college and financial aid. Graduation planning and job placement services are also available upon completion of programs.
