HGTC Phi Theta Kappa Chapter Wins Regional Awards

PTK Wins Regional Awards(CONWAY, SC) Mar. 20, 2018 - Alpha Nu Sigma, the Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, took home a number of awards at the Carolinas Regional Convention in Myrtle Beach March 9-11, including Most Distinguished Chapter. Culinary student Jason Hanson was also selected to serve the South Carolina Vice President for the 2018-2019 school year.

The chapter won the following awards: 

  • Carolinas Region Superstars Award
  • Carolinas Region Hall of Honor - Allison Lash
  • Carolinas Region Website Award
  • Carolinas Region Yearbook Award
  • Five Star Chapter Plan
  • Distinguished Administrator - Dr. Melissa Batten
  • Distinguished Honors in Action Theme Award
  • Distinguished Honors in Action Project Award (for research into the connection between cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and nutrition)
  • Distinguished College Project Award (for the art contest and rock garden project)
  • Horizon Award for Advisors - Leila Rogers
  • Distinguished Chapter Award
  • Most Distinguished Chapter (out of 84 chapters in the region)
  • Regional Service Project Award (children's book collection and Amber Ford, Allison Lash, Sasha Tricarico wrote and illustrated a children's book about bullying)
  • Regional Honors in Action Award (food collection at Thanksgiving)

Representatives from Alpha Nu Sigma will go to the national conference in Kansas City, where they will find out if they won any international awards.
