HGTC Graduates Win at 21st Annual Lineworkers’ Rodeo
(CONWAY, SC) Mar. 19, 2018 - Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) graduates placed first,
second and third overall at this weekend’s 21st annual South Carolina Lineworkers’ Rodeo. Out of 53 competitors, Charlie Thompkins
took first place, Drew Boatwright took second place, and William Gregory took third
place. All three linemen are HGTC graduates and work for Santee Cooper.
The event, sponsored by Santee Cooper, The Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina, and HGTC, provided a chance for spectators to watch well-trained lineworkers showcase their skills in a safe and fun environment. As individuals or as three-person teams, lineworkers competed in events that tested their expertise and agility.
