HGTC Names Dr. Jennifer Wilbanks

HGTC Names Dr. Jennifer Wilbanks Vice President for Academic Affairs

(Conway) July 18, 2017 – Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) has named Jennifer Wilbanks, Ph. D. its new Vice President for Academic Affairs. She will join HGTC on August 14, and brings with her 11 years of experience in higher education. HGTC President Marilyn Fore, Ph. D, served in this role previously as Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Dr. Wilbanks is the Associate Vice President for Academic affairs at Piedmont Technical College and has worked there for the majority of her career. She has also served as the Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs, Interim Dean for Engineering and Industrial Technology, Dean of County Campuses, Director of Dual Enrollment, Outreach Counselor, and Career Transition Specialist.

A native of Laurens, South Carolina, Dr. Wilbanks holds a Ph. D. in Educational Leadership, Higher Education and a Master’s of Education with an emphasis in counseling from Clemson University as well as a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from the University of South Carolina Upstate.

“Dr. Wilbanks’ extensive experience in technical education and proven success in developing and managing a variety of programs across many programs will make her a tremendous asset to our college,” said Dr. Fore.

HGTC offers college transfer and skilled associate degree programs in more than 65 fields of study, and many with online class options. Nearly all programs feature internships that lead to jobs. Ninety-five percent of students either transfer to earn advanced degrees or start careers in their respective fields of study.
