HGTC Now Offering Respiratory Care Degree Program

Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC), one of only seven in the state

(CONWAY) July 11, 2017 – Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is now offering an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Respiratory Care. The five-semester program recently received provisional accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) and is only the seventh program in the state to do so.

“Respiratory therapists play a vital role in caring for high-risk patients who suffer from heart and lung ailments,” said Sheri Tanner, program director. “This new degree program is a wonderful opportunity for individuals who want to enter the medical field or anyone looking to advance their existing career. HGTC students train with state-of-the-art technology that prepares them for high-paying careers in the healthcare industry. ”

Degree programs that achieve CoARC accreditation demonstrate and meet CoARC’s rigorous global standards of accreditation, which include an assessment of each program's objectives and outcomes, faculty and student evaluations, onsite and online resources, annual self-evaluation and proof of continuous improvements in the area of respiratory care education.
