D.R. Horton Tells about Career Opportunities

students with Dr. HortonRepresentatives from D.R. Horton,Dr. Horton America’s largest homebuilder, met with HGTC construction and civil engineering technology students recently to discuss career opportunities.

Division VP Demi Clark spoke about what D.R. Horton looks for when hiring potential employers, including being a self-starter with strong organizational skills, having a competitive spirit and also being a polished communicator. She emphasized the importance of having “people-skills” and a positive attitude. Clark also added that D.R. Horton is listed in the top 10 happiest companies in America for 2015.

Construction Manager Bryan Doster gave a presentation about the vision of D. R. Horton over 35 years ago. Doster told the students about how the company continues to demonstrate its leadership in residential development through design innovation, superior craftsmanship, and responsiveness to the needs of its customers.

City Manager Brad Brundage spoke about Enrique Morales, a recent HGTC Construction Project Management graduate and recent hire. Morales completed his internship with D. R. Horton in the summer of 2014. The company was so much impressed with the student’s job performance and work ethic that they offered him a full-time position. Enrique started as a Starts Coordinator, and he is now an Assistant Builder at The Cloisters by the Ocean.

D.R. Horton has more than 5,000 employees and has been the top homebuilder in the nation since 2002. D. R. Horton was founded in 1978.
