HGTC’s Fowler Dining Room Revamps Menu

The traditional five-course lunch at Horry-Georgetown Technical College’s Fowler Dining Room has been changed to allow a la carte dining, with flexible reservation times instead of the previous prix fixe menu with simultaneous serving.

Examples of new menu items include the Worley Farms Fried Goat Cheese Salad for $5, and the Grilled Barbecue Spiced Atlantic Salmon for $9. The salad is comprised of roasted beets, arugula, orange slices and pistachio-crusted goat cheese. The salmon is served over fresh greens with charred corn, tomatoes and roasted okra with smoky tomato vinaigrette.

“This change reflects the way we eat today,” said Dr. Marilyn Fore, HGTC’s senior vice president. “Our chefs have implemented this update to provide real-world experiences for chefs in training, and the menu options have expanded as a result.”

Diners may choose from soups and salads, sandwiches and small plates, in addition to three-course lunches. Prices range from $5 to $14.95. At The Fowler Dining Room, students supervised by some of the best local chefs prepare each meal. The college restaurant plays an important role in the development of future culinary leaders. Reservations are accepted for seating between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday during the academic year. Diners may call 843-839-7001 for reservations.
