Success Center

The Student Success and Tutoring Center provides the following FREE services to students:

The SSTC provides peer and professional academic coaches who are recommended by faculty to provide tutoring/academic assistance and coaching in most of the major academic subjects at HGTC. We highly recommend that you schedule appointments 1-3 days in advance through our scheduling system (TutorTrac) to ensure assistance. TutorTrac is located in WaveNet on the Student Services tab. Please feel free to drop into any Center to check availabilities if you were unable to schedule an appointment. Oftentimes, we may have someone available to assist you!

During your session, the academic coaches will prompt you to:

• Think actively
• Practice ungraded problems or activities
• Fine-tune specific college success skills
• Discuss your thoughts about your assignments and tutoring needs

Please come prepared with a copy of assignment instructions and to discuss any work attempted or completed.

If you need assistance using TutorTrac to make an appointment, please see the TutorTrac directions on WaveNet, visit the SSTC, or email sstc@hgtc.edu. Should you not find an available slot with an academic coach, contact us immediately.

Campus2Campus Virtual Academic Assistance

Campus2Campus Virtual Academic Assistance uses GoToMeeting (software that allows for web conferencing and online meetings), in order to provide more academic assistance/college support opportunities to all students, especially online students.

Here’s how it works. Students will now have access to any academic coach at any campus by using state-of-the-art technology for their coaching session. The student will:

1. Search for appointment availabilities in the Campus2Campus Tutoring Center  OR any Tutoring Center location (using TutorTrac in WaveNet).

2. Locate a session that fits your schedule, and

3. Contact your campus coordinator to officailly schedule and confirm your online session and technology requirements and details. You must have a working WaveNet email address.

Your online session will take place on the campus of your choice, or, with training in GoToMeeting, in your own home using a telephone, microphone, or webcam.

Please contact the SSTC to receive further information on this program, or to schedule a Campus2Campus tutoring appointment that fits your needs.
