The Horry Georgetown Technical College Commission is the governing board of the College. Members are appointed by the Governor on the recommendation of State Senators representing the district in which the nominee resides. The Commission is composed of three (3) Georgetown County representatives and six (6) Horry County representatives. The Commission meets every other month, with normally-scheduled meetings held on the second Tuesday in the Board Room on the College's Conway Campus.

The Horry Georgetown Technical College Area Commission, a nine-member body, is an outstanding group of dedicated, community-minded professionals, individually and collectively committed to advancing higher education at and through Horry Georgetown Technical College.
It is our goal, each day, to provide the policy guidelines and broad-based vision
that promote and ensures the success of the College, under the direction of its President,
H. Neyle Wilson, and accomplished by the efforts of our wonderfully able team of professional
faculty, staff and administrators.
Commission Chair Joe T. Branyon, Jr. was first appointed by the Governor in 1991. A resident of Andrews, Mr. Branyon is a Certified Public Accountant and owns the firm Tommy Branyon, CPA.

|Vice Chair Ms. Orrie E. West was first appointed by the Governor in 1986. A resident of Surfside Beach, Ms. West is the Circuit Public Defender for Horry and Georgetown Counties.|
|Secretary W.H. "Bill" Murray was first appointed by the Governor in 1987. A resident of Pawleys Island, Mr. Murray is a real estate broker with the Lachicotte Company and owner of Murray Consulting Services.|
|Mr. Brent D. Groome was first appointed by the Governor in 2002. A resident of Conway, Mr. Groome is Chief Executive for Customer Operations at Horry Telephone Cooperative.|
|Mr. Donald W. Helms was appointed by the Governor in 2007. A resident of Conway, Mr. Helms is owner of Helms Realty, Inc.|
|Mr. Herman C. Jones, Chair Emeritus,was first appointed by the Governor in 1976. A resident of Myrtle Beach, Mr. Jones is the owner of Captain Benjamin's Calabash Seafood 1and 2, and Herman Jones and Associates, a real estate company.|
|Mr. Jon D. "David" McMillan was appointed by the Governor in 2012. A resident of Murrells Inlet, Mr. McMillan is Managing Partner of Drunken Jack's Restaurant & Inlet Affairs.|
|Mr. Y. Melvin Nobles was first appointed by the Governor in 1979. A resident of North Myrtle Beach, Mr. Nobles is retired from the Grady Hardwick Construction Company.|
|W. Ken Richardson was first appointed by the Governor in 1998. A resident of Conway, Mr. Richardson is the retired owner of Fowler Motors.|
