Desarae BittleDesarae Bittle

A curve in the road changed Desarae Bittle's life. While on vacation in the mountains of West Virginia, her family stopped to see The Greenbrier, America's most fashionable social resort since 1778.

Upon returning to Myrtle Beach, S.C., she enrolled in the HCS Early College High School at Horry Georgetown Technical College and earned an associate degree in Culinary Arts. Then Desarae called The Greenbrier to say she was ready to work. Preparing exquisite desserts for one of six Greenbrier restaurants is her dream.

"I had been in the service industry long enough to know that I wanted to follow a different career path. I enrolled at Horry Georgetown Technical College because it offered the best future in Engineering Technology. My professors were first-rate and they taught me the technical skills I needed, plus they helped me land a great job! Best of all, HGTC courses transfer, so everything I've learned counts toward my Bachelor's degree in Engineering."
