HGTC Pantry Receives Donations

(Conway, SC) 06/09/2023

Treena Thibodeau, Assistant Vice President of Nursing at Conway Medical Center, along with volunteers delivered a generous contribution of food and personal care items to the HGTC Pantry. The donation effort was the result of a community partnering project in Thibodeau’s master’s program at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Many boxes were delivered to HGTC Pantry locations on all three campuses, and even a second delivery was made to the Conway campus.

“We are thankful for the efforts of Treena Thibodeau and her volunteers. The students and employees who visit the HGTC Pantry are extremely grateful for the help they receive. We appreciate so many rallying around the cause with kindness and generosity for our HGTC Gator community,” said Dr. Marilyn Murphy Fore, HGTC President.

All three HGTC campuses have an HGTC Pantry to provide non-perishable food and personal care items to meet the needs of current students and HGTC employees free and confidentially. The HGTC Pantry also provides links and information on additional resources offered within the HGTC community and surrounding community to ensure access to healthy food and personal care, community education and advocacy that leads to self-sufficiency and a brighter tomorrow.

It takes many HGTC employees working together to support the HGTC Pantry with donation, collection, and distribution efforts. Stephanie Danesie, HGTC Administrative Coordinator for the President, is one HGTC employee involved in serving the HGTC Pantry through fundraising and donation aspects of the operation.

“I am proud to volunteer my time as an HGTC employee to help those we serve through the HGTC Pantry.  The needs are great, and the shelves are bare at times, so we encourage everyone to donate,” said Danesie.

Donations can be dropped off in the donation boxes located throughout each of the three campuses. Items may also be delivered to the HGTC Human Resources Office in Building 200 on the Conway Campus. To make a financial donation in person, please email hgtc-pantry@hgtc.edu.
