HGTC Tuition Lowest in the State of South Carolina

(Conway, SC) 01/14/2021

Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is making it easier and more affordable than ever to receive a college education. According to the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education’s 2020-2021 Tuition & Fee Report, HGTC has the lowest tuition rate of any college in South Carolina at $2,186 per semester for in-state tuition.

“We know there are many obstacles and life circumstances that can hamper a decision to attend college. By keeping our tuition affordable, we believe we have minimized that barrier to pursuing educational goals,” said Dr. Marilyn Murphy Fore, HGTC president. “It is our mission to make a college degree both an affordable and accessible reality for everyone in our community, and I’m so proud that we continue to lead our state in affordability.”

In addition to having the lowest tuition in the state, HGTC has Lottery Tuition Assistance and SC Wins Scholarships available for students to supplement the cost of tuition and fees. The College also offers rolling enrollment periods so those who haven’t registered still have flex start options available. New and returning students have until January 17 to register for full semester classes, and until March 3 to register for Fast Forward II classes.

On January 11, HGTC welcomed students back for the start of the spring semester. Instruction is being provided in the virtual format for the first week of classes as a safety precaution for students and faculty. Classes resume in the originally scheduled format on Tuesday, January 19.

“We are excited to welcome students back this week,” Dr. Fore continued. “This new year is the perfect time to go back to school, and we encourage anyone looking for a change in life or career to enroll now. Our online and hybrid class options offered through the Distance Learning Institute allow students to go back to school while they work.”

In celebration of the new semester, HGTC is hosting a spring welcome back week event called “We Are EPIC!” Student Engagement will be sharing the EPIC initiative (Effective Professional and Interpersonal Communications) with students through contests and activities on Facebook and WaveNet. Participating students will be eligible to win EPIC prizes including an IPad, laptop, Nintendo DS, and All-In-One Printer. Students can like and share these contests and activities with friends and followers on social media at facebook.com/gohgtc.
