Services for Distance Learning Students

HGTC wants to ensure students enrolled in Distance Learning Programs have all the resources needed to succeed. Here are the resources available to students online.

HGTC Policies and Procedures are available to all online.

Advising

Virtual advising offered through DLP enrollment advisor, email distancelearning@hgtc.edu Degree Works is available online through your student WaveNet account.

Bookstore

Visit the HGTC Bookstore online for your textbook and course supplies.

Career Resource Center Online career resources are available to students to include online workshops, resume builder, and job board.
Counseling Services Counseling services are available to all students. Such services as ULifeline and other software tool, as well as,  degree seekers are available online for students in Distance Learning Programs.
D2L Student Resources If you are new to online learning, please visit your Student Services tab in WaveNet for technology tutorials or visit the Student Information Center:WaveNet Central's website for online learning. You will find various resources to help you navigate the College’s online learning management system of D2L online.  WaveNet Central - Online Resource Center.

Library Online library resources such as live chat with librarian, twitter/FB, online databases and catalog systems are available to students.
Orientation

HGTC Orientation is available online. Please visit the NAVIGATE orientation site for more information on the HGTC College orientation. For online course Orientation, log into WaveNet and under the “My Student” tab you will find the Distance Learning Orientation Course in the “Registration Tools” box.

SSTC – Tutoring

Virtual tutoring with SSTC staff and online tutoring services are available in areas such as Writing, Math, Accounting, Biology, Nursing, Science, Business and more! Contact the SSTC for more information: sstc@hgtc.edu.

Student Complaint Procedure

All students have a right to file a complaint concerning their education at HGTC. Students enrolled in the DLP may use the online complaint process.

Testing Center

Proctor testing is available at the testing centers on all three HGTC campuses, in addition, students can go to other technical colleges in the state as well.  In some classes, testing may occur through D2L online. Check course Instructional Packets for specifics on testing procedures for each course.
