HGTC Computer Technology Students Excel Nationally
Six students in Horry Georgetown Technical College’s Computer Technology program traveled to Atlanta, GA, recently, where three won significant awards at the 2014 Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) National Collegiate Conference. Held annually, the conference is a showcase for IT/IS colleges and universities nationwide. This year, 453 students attended.

attended the AITP National Collegiate Conference recently in Atlanta, GA.
HGTC students Daniel Cushwa, Margie Barrow, Niki Giles, Jeremy Justice, Stacy Rivera and Roosevelt Skinner competed in the following competitions: Microsoft Office Solutions; PC Troubleshooting; Mobile Applications; AITP Student Chapter Shirt Contest; Database Design; Network Design; Security; and Institute for the Certification of Computing Professionals (ICCP) Information Systems Analyst (ISA) Exam.
Here’s how HGTC students ranked in the competitions:
- Daniel Cushwa is the overall second place recipient of the George Eggert Award. He achieved the third highest score on ICCP's Information System Analyst Certification Exam (Mastery Level). He also received an Honorable Mention, among the top ten, in the PC Troubleshooting Competition, and earned the eleventh highest score in the Security Competition.
- Jeremy Justice passed ICCP's Information System Analyst Certification Exam and earned the twelfth-highest score in the Security Competition.
- Stacy Rivera received an honorable mention, among the top ten, in the Security Competition and earned the sixth-highest score in the competition. Rivera also passed ICCP's Information System Analyst Certification Exam.
HGTC Professors T’Mars McCallum and Matthew Servedio accompanied the group.
