How you can help

Support our students

Businesses, organizations and individuals can support students through the HGTC Foundation by giving to endow, sustain or otherwise establish tuition and book scholarships or by supporting efforts to remove financial barriers to students' success through the Student Emergency Fund.

Donors may give to one or more of the HGTC Foundation's existing scholarship funds, may establish a new annual scholarship, or may choose to endow a half or a full scholarship.

Annual scholarships are for funds contributed to the Foundation on an annual basis, with all of the funds being awarded to a student in the same year. Endowed scholarships, most of which are named for the contributor or a person of their choosing, are funded by the interest derived from an endowed donation. Currently, it takes $30,000 to endow a scholarship.

The Directors Student Emergency Fund was established in 2004 to help provide books and/or other supplies and materials needed by financially challenged HGTC students to allow them to continue their education at the College. Many students work one or more jobs while also attending the College in order to better their future incomes, and some also support and provide for dependents. Assistance from the Directors Student Emergency Fund can often mean the difference between a student being able to continue their pursuit of higher education or having to postpone it altogether.

All contributions to the HGTC Foundation are completely tax-deductible. Contact us now to become a partner in supporting students' education at Horry-Georgetown Technical College or learn how you can support the College in other ways.
